"Lift Recording 01"

The audio recording, titled "Lift Recording 01," begins with the distinct sounds of a person running in an outdoor setting. The crunch of gravel underfoot and the distant echo of urban noise paint the picture of an exterior scene. Suddenly, the running slows and then stops, replaced by the electronic beeps of an elevator being called. The soundscape shifts from the open outdoors to the more confined space of an elevator as the doors open with a mechanical swoosh. The listener is then taken inside the elevator – the echo of the space subtly changes, indicating an enclosed interior. A series of beeps sound, perhaps representing buttons being pressed for different floors. Finally, the sound of the elevator doors closing bookends the recording. The last sound that remains is an anticipatory hum, suggesting the beginning of an ascent or descent as the elevator starts its journey.
