1 Kings 18 gives us a dramatic showdown between Elijah, the prophet of God, and the priests of Baal. Elijah rebuilt the altar of the Lord, which had previously been torn down and abandoned. He called the people to draw near, and he offered a lavish sacrifice, asking God to answer by burning it up. What has drawn us away from the altar of God in our lives? Has our prayer life gone by the wayside? God promises us that if we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us.
